Hi I have a version of Pang for the Gx4000 which is different to the rom version. I don't know if mine has been hacked, but a label of Arnold Diagnostics can be seen under the Pang label.
On my version they's no Ocean name on the title screen, no starting level can be selected, strangely different animals turn up such as crabs and birds appear to help and hinder you. The music also screws up when you pause the game. I bought this games from the tradeinpost, but thought it was the original game....
Do you know if amstrad games can be dumped off your pc and put on a cartidge to use on your gx4000? Is this easy to do. Could you transfer any CPC rom onto the GX4000?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks Phil

it sounds like a pirate, pang has a reputation for being rare
it is the only game worth playing on the console - so i doubt anyone would let it go, really (but i doubt its as rare as people make out)

I have the same version. Is a late BETA of PANG of GX4000 and if you see, the rom board is different and the cartidge is hand-maded.
My first console was the GX4000 (I'm Spanish) and I like it very much....
Do you know where I can buy more games?
Yours

the best place seems to be ebay - caution is advised though as i have bought 'pang' several times but have yet to receive a copy?? buy from reputed dealers, products that say they are 'tested', there are a few amstrad dealers on the uk ebay site their main market is commodore and spectrum but some of tehm also deal in amstrad as well. i dont there are any dedicated amstrad'ers yet

My copy of PANG is also from tradeinpost.com, bought by a friend of mine in the UK.
I don't know why the sell a beta copy of pang. I have this cartridge and I played it, but I wanted the same version that the rom I play in the emulator.

i too have seen this advert by trade in post - i wondered why the PANG cartridge was so cheap
its either a self made copy on a rombo ROM or a pre release version for magazines to review, my bet is the former of the two
software sales are always lower than the console and this is teh only title of interest to collectors as the AMSTRAD mode 2 graphics couple with PLUS mode sprites make it look better than the C64 version and very close to the arcade apart from some pixelation in the background
i had this first time around and have played it so it does exist

i think its most likely a copy of a magazine review version??
the fact that u state its a hand made cartridge case makes me think its a homebrew one

Sorry, the cartridge is not handmade, but it is assembled by hand.
Also, you can see, the different rom board it has.
As far as I know, it's a late beta. Also it can be a "review" magazine version.
Also, I bought KLAX in tradeinpost, and it's a cartridge of the games factory, but without label, also a simple label with the serial number and the name of the game. I think that a lot of games and cartridges never saw the light in a package, and some people like this tradeinpost bought all the stocks.

It's possible to "burn" cpc cartridges? In a lot of systems now you can buy flash cartridges...

i had a klax first time around as well (in perfect condish), they come up on ebay often perhaps u could email me a pic and i can post it but i think i know what u mean - doesnt sound like the copies i had unless im mistaken could possibly have been not working or foreign and 'repaired' in some way - the amstrad plus was more popular in spain and france it is quite easy and simple to burn a cartridge for the amstrad (and u would be able to make a make shift eprom with the rombo romboard that '8bitten' is selling at the moment) im not sure if all the leads and software programs would be available anymore but arnor on ROM, a C++ assember and there was a specific package u could use but i cant remember the name u would need to do it via an actual cpc and then it would be easier - also the PLUS routines would be needed and an EPROM of a compatible size or conector edge, they are not made anymore

u would need a basic programming knowledge and a copy of ARNORs machine code assembler ROM (not their wordprocessing package)
also the 'key' code to access the cartridge and switch banks (which u may get from amstrad or any old programmers on the plus games, i would expect to pay for that information, i think thats why no one bothers)
