anyone else played this game - i used to love it when i was a kid, i think its a spectrum port but the graphics are only 1 colour screens in a text only self generating adventure so it doesnt really matter
its rock hard, i still cant beat it now (picked it up for 50p on tape from ebay)

Absolute classic! The nearest I ever got was four gang members and then I stupidly took the last one out for a gunfight and he shot me because my gun had jammed - (I take it this was because to complete the game you'd have to take him prisoner to confess... I still kick myself over that and the fact I have never even been as close again only reinforces this! Curious side note - this game helped teach me my left from right as a kid thanks to the 'see picture' advice on most of the wanted posters

u really can pick an amstrad up very cheaply, my local market games stall told me that £5 was too much at local car boot to pay for a 6128 in working order
he uses the fact that there are no games with it and might not be working to take price down further or swaps something that he paid less for

the wild bunch really is an excellent game - its the only game that i ever had stolen from me when i was a kid and i remember an advert offering a fiver for it towards the late 80s so it was becoming rare then
i still havent completed it, i cant seem to survive a 10 day trek across the desert bcos u always meet animals that u cant bribe or run or run away from??

holy cow, just doing an internet search on this old, fave game of mine and i come across this forum so i have to leave a message. our 464 & 6128 (we had both after the 464 was upgraded) went to the scrapheap in the sky, straight in the bin despite working perfectly. how i now rue that day i told my dad i no longer had any interest in it or the hundreds of tapes and disks i had for those two computers. but the wild bunch had to be the highlight of the 464/6128 for me, along with "rock star ate my hamster". i remember perfecting the poker game in order to be able to stock up on money and therefore supplies for another trek across the desert whilst hoping your horse didn't go lame and that the pinkerton agent on your tail wasn't waiting for you in the next town you arrived at. of course you could pay to read telegraphs in the hope you would find out his current location!! i had forgotten the descriptions bit though!! that brought some memories flooding back. i have to admit that i too never completed the game.

the game seems to have a permanent memory, possibly to make it harder and maybe better value for money for teh buyer a lot of spanish and foreigns games seem to have this problem, it originated in spain even first time around i found it impossible to complete after one game - the computer seems to remember your gambling style and fights/bribes become harder, as does the pinkie agents cycle (more random and he simply catches u if u dont pay the telegraph fee) as a rule, i have always reloaded the game after every game, which seems to reset things but even then its very hard?? (and a bit of a pain) but u r right paul, its great stuff thanks for the post

sometimes even when u use 100 pts against a guy in a fight, u still got hammered and he always took your horse first - which is the most expensive item to buy again

with every post i read another memory comes flooding back!!! had forgotten about fighting in the desert and losing horses. you would come across something and you could either run, fight or bribe it. always got a sarcastic commetn back when you try to bribe an animal!! also finding gold nuggets on those treks!!
i never completed the game either myself but then i think that was one of the great appeals. also the red eye made me feel more of a man at the time!!!
am seriously considering investing in a working 464 or 6128 as they look like they can be picked up dirt cheap although i'd only want it for the wild bunch!!!!

Remember that game very well...
Was it a basic game!?
After hearing you guys talking about it, i started rembering it quite well.
I was good at keeping myself alive, playing poker to make money for food and stuff...
But i never found out how to beat the gunslingers you can challange in the street, neither did i found out how to solve the puzzle who the wildbunch were!!!
Did any of you?
Regards, H

the game originated on the BBC micro and was converted to the SPECTRUM,
i think it was programmed in BASIC but the static screens meant that it didnt suffer from slowdown, and the fact that its a lot older mean the spectrum graphics dont take away much from the gameplay
even though there are only a handful of colours on screen at a time, the colour schemes are well chosen and its barely noticeable really
i think the spanish version came out first, that may also be why its so hard

Great game indeed! But here's the Trivia Tease......can anybody remember the names of the Wild Bunch? Here's one for starters...
Harry somebody......I think there were five in all.
I seem to remember completing it a couple of times with a successful gunfight at the end. Anybody else?

I really love this one (and still play it)
It was written in basic and was right pain to get over to disk because of it's shere size (42k). The program needed cutting down because it overwrote part memory taken up by the drive.
