Hi there.
I hope someone can help me with some problems I'm having connecting a 3.5" PC disk drive to my CPC 6128.
I purchased a connection-cable for connecting a Spectrum +3 to a 3.5" disk drive, thinking that since the CPC 6128 and the +3 in so many other ways are similar, why not this one too?
So now I have the external 3.5" disk drive hooked up to the CPC and the internal powersupply of my PC. When I type |b the machine just freezes and does nothing. But if I insert a disc into the 3.5" drive the screen almost immediately read "Drive B: Disc Missing".
First I thought it had something to do with the often mentioned problem that the 6128 has with reading drive B if there isn't a disc in drive A (??!). So I also inserted a disc in drive A ... and still nothing happend. It still only told me that there wasn't a disc in drive b.
The disc I have in the 3.5" is one made from a .dsk image with 'wpdwrite'. But I do sincerely not think that that is the problem.
Can someone out there please give me some advice on how to proceed?
Thanks,
Michael, the troubled Dane

Connect pins 1 and 2 of the cable that runs from amstrad to 3.5 drive and Amstrad will recognize the disc. (see amstrad manual for help, hardware chapter)
BE sure that between amstrad and 3.5 drive there is no cable reversal.
